Using modern technology like MRI scans, scientists have developed a more thorough understanding of what’s taking place in our brains when we meditate, kind of similar to how scientists have previously looked at measuring creativity in our brains.

The overall difference is that our brains stop processing information as actively as they normally would. We start to show a decrease in beta waves, which indicate that our brains are processing information, even after a single 20-minute meditation session if we’ve never tried it before.”

This is your brain on meditation

NYU Medical Center was severely damaged by Sandy, both by floodwater and extended power outages leading to catastrophic freezer failures and loss of many transgenic mouse colonies.
Hundreds of researchers at NYU Langone Medical Center scrambled today to salvage years of research into: heart disease, cancer & other diseases as well as priceless lab specimens that have been put in jeopardy by Sandy.
NYU lost power shortly after Sandy struck.
Immediately after hearing, the Microryza leadership team set up a campaign to help.
The goal is to help them restore what was lost to Sandy; even $1 is totally worth it. Help NYU Medical back together with our friends at Microryza
